IMPACT OF COUNSELLING INTERVENTIONS ON YOUTH SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN ABIA STATE
Abstract
This study examined the impact of counselling interventions on youth socio-economic development in Abia State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study investigated the extent to which career counselling, entrepreneurial counselling, and life-skills counselling impact youth socio-economic development in Abia State. Three research questions and three null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised 894,688 youths aged 18–35 years in Abia State. A sample of 400 youths was selected using purposive sampling technique. The findings revealed that career counselling, entrepreneurial counselling, and life-skills counselling to a great extent impact youth socio-economic development in Abia State. The findings further showed that there was no significant difference between the mean scores of male and female youths on the impact of the counselling interventions.
